The health of our residents is a top priority at Family House, and we partner with several organizations – including the Neighborhood Health Association (NHA) and the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) – to provide comprehensive health education and resources, including:

  • Free, anonymous HIV testing
  • Life skills – relationship building, social etiquette
  • Medical care

Every week, a team of eight LPNs spend their mornings educating residents on health issues and disease prevention, and spend the afternoon seeing residents for health problems or challenges.

  • Nutrition classes

Family House staff instruct residents on the most nutritious food options available for purchase with limited funds or food stamps.

  • Parenting classes
  • Pre-natal care
  • Sex education
  • Support groups for residents with mental health challenges, including depression
